Fund launched for Australia crash family

A FUND has been launched to help widower Brengani Moyo repatriate to Zimbabwe his wife and three children who were killed in a horrific road crash in Australia last Sunday.

Emmet Moyo, 38, daughters Sibonginkosi (Tahila), 8, Sibusiso (Blessing), 5, and one-year-old son Sandulo died when the Hyundai Getz they were in hit a 40-seater bus on a Goldfields Highway in Kambalda shortly before 7pm on Sunday.

They were on their way home from a church service at the Forward in Faith Pentecostal Church.

The driver of the bus was said to be recovering in hospital after suffering a heart attack.

A Royal Flying Doctor Service spokesman said it wasn't clear if the driver had the heart attack when she was behind the wheel or after the crash.

Police said the highway was wet after heavy rains on Sunday, which may have contributed to the crash.

They added that it appeared that, in the dark, wet conditions one of the vehicles had veered onto the wrong side of the road and the collision occurred on a bend.

Moyo had flown home to Zimbabwe only the Friday before and is still there receiving counselling from his family and church.

The Forward in Faith Ministries church has now started a trust fund for Moyo to help cover the cost of repatriating his family’s remains to Zimbabwe.

Church Elder Ken Chihwayi said the church always collected money from its flock when a member had died to help the family cover the cost of a funeral, but this event in particular had shocked the community.

Those wanting to donate towards the repatriation of Emmet Moyo and her children, can deposit money into:
