Cadwell Mashininga’s body has finally been repatriated to his beloved motherland, Zimbabwe where is due to be laid to rest next week. Mashininga was repatriated Friday, 14 June 2013 and is due to arrive at Harare International Airport Saturday evening.

Diaspora Funeral Cash Plan donated a US$1, 600 to a fund a set up to raise funds for the late Cadwell Mashininga’s body repatriation to Zimbabwe. The family and friends of the late Cadwell Mashininga who died on 27 April 2013 at St Helier Hospital in Surrey, UK had made desperate appeals to well-wishers to help raise £2, 500.00 to cover his body repatriation costs.

Diaspora death has resulted in a lot suffering and lack of closure to many bereaved families and high profile cases include the late musician, Fortune Mupurutsa whose body was stranded in the UK for over nine months in 2009 as family and friends struggled to raise funds for repatriation. In 2011 friends of a slain Zimbabwean university professor, Ottilia Chareka, set up a fund to raise US$20, 000 for the repatriation of her body from Canada to Zimbabwe.
