Cadwell Mashininga has finally been laid to rest in his beloved motherland, Zimbabwe. His body arrived at Harare International Airport Saturday, 15th June 13 evening and he was laid to rest at Warren Hills cemetery in Harare at 1100hrs Monday, 17th June 13 after a visit to his rural home over the weekend.

Diaspora Funeral Cash Plan donated a US$1, 600 to a fund a set up to raise funds for the late Cadwell Mashininga’s body repatriation to Zimbabwe. The family and friends of the late Cadwell Mashininga who died on 27 April 2013 at St Helier Hospital in Surrey, UK had made desperate appeals to well-wishers to help raise £2, 500.00 to cover his body repatriation costs.

 

Diaspora death has resulted in a lot suffering and lack of closure to many bereaved families and high profile cases include the late musician, Fortune Mupurutsa whose body was stranded in the UK for over nine months in 2009 as family and friends struggled to raise funds for repatriation. In 2011 friends of a slain Zimbabwean university professor, Ottilia Chareka, set up a fund to raise US$20, 000 for the repatriation of her body from Canada to Zimbabwe.
